Abel Tesfaye , also known by the stage name The Weeknd, is a Canadian singer , writer, and producer . Later, in 2010 , Tesfaye uploaded videos of his songs to YouTube under the name The Weeknd. He later released three mixtapes throughout 2011: House of the Balloon , Thursday , and “ Echoes of Silence .The criticism was harsh. The following year, he released a compilation album entitled (Triple) containing all the mixtape songs with re-releases of some songs. It was released under the name of the production company Republic and his own production company XO. In 2013 he released a studio album called “ Kiss Land ”. It was supported by two singles, " Kiss Land " and " Live For ". And his second studio album, “ The Beauty Behind the Madness ,” whose songs were in the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 : Mostly, you Earned It ,and The Hills , and the number-one song, I Can’t Feel My Face , was released on August 28, 2015.
He chose the name The Weeknd because he felt it was easy and beautiful, and there was no specific story! He hates his real name "Abel"! He had to delete the letter E to change his name to The Weeknd because he was having legal problems with a band called the Weekend!
