Dr. Dre, the legendary rapper and former producer of Eminem's favorite rap group N.W.A, heard Eminem's rap cassette and was so impressed that he signed Eminem to a record deal.

He divorced his wife in 2000, but they maintained a turbulent relationship until remarrying in 2006, only to divorce again a few months later, leading to a long and bitter custody battle over their daughter Hailie. Meanwhile, Eminem sank further into addiction to alcohol, sleeping pills, and painkillers. In December 2007, he overdosed and nearly died.

By early 2008, Eminem managed to overcome his addiction to drugs and alcohol and returned to music. He released his album "Relapse" in 2009, as well as another album, "Recovery," where he recounted his struggles with addiction and rehabilitation. The album won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
